Which dogs are best for allergy sufferers?

Poodles (all sizes), Maltese, Bichon Frisé, and Portuguese Water Dogs are considered particularly allergy-friendly. Hairless breeds like the Xoloitzcuintle are also an option. It's best to spend time with the desired breed before getting one to test your individual reaction.

Do non-shedding dogs need more grooming?

Yes, the continuously growing hair needs regular clipping or trimming – every 6 to 8 weeks at the groomer. Daily brushing prevents matting. Grooming costs are higher than for regular breeds, but you save on constant vacuuming and lint rolling.

Do Doodle mixes really not shed?

Doodle mixes (Goldendoodle, Labradoodle, etc.) can shed more or less depending on the generation. F1b generation dogs (75% Poodle) shed the least. With F1 crosses (50/50), results are unpredictable – some puppies in a litter may very well shed.
