Cheese Dog Biscuits: Cheese Crackers with Gouda
Make your four-legged friend happy with these tasty, no-fuss cheese crackers. Just mix everything together, roll out the dough, cut them out and bake until golden.

Ingredients
- 50g Gouda
- 300g buckwheat flour
- 200g cream cheese
- 3 tbsp coconut oil
- 20 ml corn oil
- 1 egg
Step-by-step instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan)
- 2
Finely grate the Gouda, mix it with the remaining ingredients in a bowl and knead into a dough
- 3
Roll out the dough, cut out the crackers with a biscuit cutter and spread them over a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake on the middle shelf for 25-30 minutes. Watch them carefully, as they brown quickly
- 4
Let the cheese crackers cool completely. Store somewhere cool and dry and use within a week
Tips and notes
Buckwheat flour is naturally gluten-free and suits most dogs well. Grate the Gouda finely so it distributes evenly through the dough. Do not roll the dough too thin - about 5mm is ideal. Leave the crackers in the switched-off oven for 10-15 minutes to dry out for extra crunch. Bring coconut oil to room temperature first so it's easier to work into the dough.
Storage
Keeps in an airtight tin at room temperature for 4-6 weeks. In the fridge up to 8 weeks, frozen up to 3 months. Well-dried biscuits keep longest.
Variations
- →Parmesan instead of Gouda for a stronger cheese flavour
- →Spelt flour instead of buckwheat flour
- →Add chopped parsley for extra freshness
- →Emmental or another Alpine cheese for a different flavour
Which dogs is this suitable for?
All dogs. Most dogs tolerate small amounts of cheese well. If your dog is lactose intolerant, reduce the amount or use a low-lactose variety like Parmesan. Cut them small for training.
