Simple Dog Biscuits: Banana Oat Biscuits with Just 3 Ingredients
These banana crunchies are a simple, tasty treat for dogs, made with mashed banana, oats and coconut oil. Dogs love the sweet banana flavour and crunchy oats, and you might end up trying one yourself.

Ingredients
- 2 bananas
- 200g oats
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
Step-by-step instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan). Peel the bananas and mash them in a bowl with a fork
- 2
Add the oats and coconut oil and knead everything together well
- 3
Tear off small pieces of dough and spread them out on a baking tray lined with baking paper
- 4
Bake for about 20 minutes
- 5
Take the tray out of the oven and let the banana crunchies cool completely
Tips and notes
Use really ripe bananas - the riper they are, the sweeter and easier to mash. Warm the coconut oil slightly so it's liquid and blends more easily with the oats. Do not make the shapes too thin; about 1cm thick is ideal. If the dough is too sticky, just add a bit more oats. The biscuits are done when golden brown and firm to the touch.
Storage
Keeps in an airtight tin for 2-3 weeks, in the fridge for up to 5 weeks. Can be frozen for 3 months. The high banana content means they do not keep quite as long as plain flour biscuits.
Variations
- →Apple instead of banana (grated, gives crunchier biscuits)
- →1 tbsp peanut butter (xylitol-free!) for extra protein
- →Stir in chopped parsley for a fresh flavour
- →Fine oats for softer biscuits, rolled oats for more bite
Which dogs is this suitable for?
All dogs, including puppies from 12 weeks. Oats are low in gluten and well tolerated. For grain allergies, use coconut flour instead of oats. Great as training treats: make them small and prepare a big batch.
